Elementary Diploma

The minimum age required for taking the admissions tests is 8 years old.

The admissions test for the first year Elementary Education, the test is exclusively on musical aptitude. It includes three exercises designed to evaluate the student’s hearing, rhythm and intonation capabilities. Previous knowledge of music will not be taken into consideration.

    For the rest of the Elementary Courses, the admissions test is divided into two parts:
  • Part A, the candidate will take a practical level test for the instrument they wish to study. For this test, they should prepare pieces or works that of a similar difficulty to those cited in the list of orientative works.
  • Part B, the candidate will take an aptitude test based on three aspects: Rhythm, Intonation and Theory. /li>

Each part will be evaluated on a scale of 1 to 10 points, with 5 being the minimum score needed in each part to receive a passing grade. Part A will count as 70% of the final grade and Part B, 30%. Once the test has been completed, the Jury will determine which course the candidate will be admitted to, according to their overall performance.

Professional Diploma

The minimum age for taking the admissions test is 8 years old.

    The admissions test for the first course of Professional Education consists of two parts:
  • Part A. The performance of three works on the instrument that the candidate wishes to specialize in. For this portion of the test, the candidate will present a repertoire of five works representing different styles of music. Two of the works will be studies; the candidate will choose one of them to perform by memory, and the Jury will choose the other two works to be performed for the test. The jury may listen to the works in their entirety or may hear only part of them. For the Percussion test, the candidate will perform five works that demonstrate their mastery of the various instruments that comprise this specialty.
  • Part B. An exercise in Musical Language common to all of the specialties, which will enable an evaluation of the following aspects:
    • Music Theory.
    • Candidates’ auditory capability.
    • Rhythmic Reading.
    • Intonation.
    • Sight reading of a musical fragment, which may be on their specialty instrument.

Each part will be evaluated on a scale of 1 to 10 points, with 5 being the minimum score needed in each part to receive a passing grade. Part A will count as 70% of the final grade and Part B, 30%.

    For the rest of the Professional Education courses, the test will also be divided into two parts. Part A will be the same as the test for the first course.
  • Part B. Theory-Practice exercises from the subjects included in the professional education in music curriculum that are common to all of the specialties or specific to certain specialties.
    • B.1. Exercises common to all of the specialties according to the course being applied to and, in the case of the sixth course, the chosen profile.
    • B.2. Exercises specific to certain specialties.
